District 32 – Key West Should Repeat

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , , .
We now get to the geographically most challenged district in the state.  Key West to Florida Christian is 151 miles.  For a DISTRICT game.  Of course, that is the price to pay for growing up in Key West . . . well, that and the hurricane evacuations you have to go through.Key West started from scratch a few years ago and already has surpassed their district rivals, although both Coral Shores games were competitive last season and they gave a solid effort in the FHSAA first round versus Gulliver.  Although they didn’t win any, they did play a nice out of district schedule, with Belen, Western, AH-Plantation and St. Augustine among others, gave them a good grounding.  Will the other schools in the district commit this way to grow their programs? If not then this will be Key West’s district for years to come.
