District 4 Preview – Bolles and Episcopal Are Likely a 2-Team Battle

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in , , , .
Bolles comes off one of the stranger seasons in recent FHSAA history, as they went 6-1 in their district, winning the District title, while going 1-12 outside of it to finish 7-13.  This has been a strong program in the past so they look to improve on their out of district record while looking to hold off their rivals.Last season’s Regular Season records via MaxPreps (Note: possibility not all results were uploaded):

Bolles was able to avenge their regular season loss to Episcopal in the district final but was easily handled by Oak Hall in the first round of the FHSAA. Bolles 7-13, lost in FHSAA first roundCoach Mike Mulvey sent in his thoughts here:What are your expectations this season for the team?We need to be more competitive in our region than last season.  We were a young team last year and never put forth a ‘four quarter effort.’  Now, with virtually everyone returning, we need to step up and challenge ourselves to win every second of every game we play. The key ingredients for us will be chemistry and playing as a team.  If the guys can stay healthy and gel as a unit, then I really like our potential.  Who are the returning players who will make a difference this season?Jack Munoz (25g/14a), Jack Mulvey (22g/16a), Stefan Mostovych (22g/16a), Oliver Wilson (14g/3a), Andrew Sledzik (20g/12a), Connor Mulvey (two yr starter on D)What players do you expect to step up this year that didn’t get much playing time last year?Destin Kirby, who will be our starting goalie this seasonWhat are the games you are really looking forward to this season? All of them – as I said, we have a lot to prove, and I look forward to every opportunity to do so! Episcopal School 11-7, lost in the district finalUnfortunately we have not yet received their questionnaire, we will add it when received Paxon School 10-9, lost in district semifinalsCoach JJ Nullet provided this info:What are your expectations this season for the team? The team hopes to improve on our 8-7 season last year as we are returning 17 players from that squad.  Who are the returning players who will make a difference this season?Tri Captains Allen Scarboro, Blake O’Conner, and Sidney Moore will lead the team this year. Scarboro is a Junior who led the team in scoring as a sophomore and Moore is a 3 year starter at midfield, while O’Conner will stabilize the defense with his consistent play. What players do you expect to step up this year that didn’t get much playing time last year?Zach Kirsch, a late season addition to the attack unit should prove leadership and a solid lacrosse IQ.  Brett Bauer is anther 3 year starter retuning at midfield and should have a solid campaign.  What are the games you are really looking forward to this season? As usual the biggest games of the year are against Stanton Prep in the “Brain Bowl” pitting the top academic public schools in Jacksonville. Stanton Prep 3-12, lost in the first round of districtUnfortunately we have not yet received their questionnaire, we will add it when received Lee High 1-13, did not qualify for districtUnfortunately we have not yet received their questionnaire, we will add it when received Bishop Snyder 2-13, did not qualify for districtUnfortunately we have not yet received their questionnaire, we will add it when received
