Predicting The 32 Team Bracket – The Districts Are Here – Districts 17-24!

District 17 – Riverview hostsRiverview-Sarasota vs ODA-SarasotaCardinal Mooney vs St. Stephens EpiscopalIt will be an R-S versus CM final and they split the two regular season games, both winning on the road.  When that happens it likely repeats itself so look for CM to sneak out a win to advance.  The only thing that gives me pause is that CM lost 5 of their last 8 games to finish the season against a tough schedule and they might be worn down. District 18 – Canterbury hostsBishop Verot vs Ft. MyersCanterbury vs EsteroThis is set up for a possible upset.  BV has long owned this district but has to face a Ft. Myers team in the first round that gave them fits at home while Estero lost big to Canterbury before.  Ft. Myers also took Canterbury down to the wire.  It would not surprise me to see BV finally lose this district.  The home field might well be the deciding factor here so let’s give Canterbury the nod as all three teams stumbled late in their seasons. District 19 – ImmokaleeGulf Coast vs Golden GateImmokalee vs Palmetto RidgeGulf Coast outscored the other three 59-3 in the 3 games . . .Miracles might never cease but they tend to hibernate for a long period of time.  At least the atmosphere for Immokalee hosting should be really good. District 20 – Community School hostsBarron Collier vs LelyNaples vs Community SchoolThe Naples-Community game is game three in a strange result from back to back games they played on 3/9 and 3/21.  Naples won the first one at home 15-6 and then dropped a 2-OT game at Community the next game.  Home field advantage for Community in this one.But it doesn’t matter as Barron Collier easily wins the final. District 21 – Merritt Island hostsMerritt Island vs RockledgeEdgewood vs VieraThe only thing certain here is that Rockledge is not likely going to beat Merritt.  The rest is a toss up and the home field might be decisive.  Edgewood lost to both Viera and Merritt by identical 19-9 scores so it looks like a Merritt Island vs Viera final and the first time Merritt won 12-11 at home.Complete tossup on this one. District 22 – MCC hostsMCC vs Sebastian RiverMelbourne vs Holy Trinity EpiscopalMCC has dominated this district for awhile and the toughest matchup for them would be Holy Trinity but divine intervention will likely not play a role here so MCC goes on. District 23 – St. Edwards hostsSt. Edwards vs Vero BeachJensen Beach vs Martin CountyLand mine sightings. This is really interesting.  On the surface this is St. Edwards to lose.  Martin and Jensen played an OT game at Jensen that ended with controversy.  Vero will not give St. Ed’s much trouble but the winner of the second game should be a very tough out for them regardless of who.  If there is a potential for a huge upset out there it could be Jensen winning this district.  Not saying it will happen as I choose St. Ed’s to go on but this is the one to look at for the unlikely result. District 24 – Palm Beach Gardens hosts (Dwyer field is not capable of holding the event)Jupiter vs DwyerBenjamin vs Palm Beach GardensHere we go again.  Jupiter vs Benjamin is always the best District final on paper and this year is no different.Benjamin won the regular season game with a late run.  Last year the regular season winner lost the district final.  It could happen again. But no one knows . . . again a toss up. That leaves us with the following first round matchups Cardinal Mooney vs Canterbury Ft. MyersGulf Coast vs Barron CollierMerritt Island/Viera vs MCCBenjamin/Jupiter vs St. Edwards
